Gary Lu, of Absolute Fencing, asked me to send you a quick note regarding the new USFA leased scoring equipment. So here is a quick cheat sheet about their features: Uhlmann reels: all of the Uhlmann reels have had the tape-down bar installed. SG12 Scoring Machines: These are upgrades of the SG12St which include penalty card indicators, but no DE round indicators. The sound is rather minimal - given the noisy environments of most of the NACs, JO, and Summer Nationals, but the size of the LED panels should compensate for them. Each machine is contained in a carrying case which also includes a power supply and a remote whose AAA batteries have been installed. Currently, all the remotes are synced to the machines. Synching the remotes to the machines is the same as on the SG12STs: depress and hold the sound and weapon choice buttons on the machine, and while pointing the remote at the machine, key any button on the remote. Remote Button Functions: Grey Buttons: Weapon Selection Priority: The SG12's have this function Orange Buttons Round + and Round -: do not function with the new SG12s Reset +: increases the fencing time by 1.0 minute Reset - : decreases the fencing time by 1.0 minute Reset: resets the fencing time Pause: starts 1.0 minute break time Stop/Go: controls the fencing time Dec: decreases the fencing time by 1.0 second Inc: increases the fencing time by 1.0 second Yellow and Red Buttons: cycle the penalty indicators Green Buttons: control the scoring indicators Syncing the new remote to the new SG31 v.3: Plug the remote into the SG31 v.3 to sync the remote and to charge its batteries OR Find the menu window that indicates LEFT FENCER, point the remote at the IR detector, and press any button on the remote. You should hear a brief tone, indicating that the remote has synced. If any parts are needed to repair the leased scoring equipment, contact Gary Lu at Absolute Fencing's booth. He will have a supply of the parts which frequently are needed.
