And what exactly happens here? Is this blank screen blue or black?
Can you enter KDL by pressing Alt-SysReq-d (in that order, and keep
them pressed).

You mean "on screen debug" output, I guess - this isn't particularly
helpful these days.
For now, I would not enable any debug options.
