Well, there is already the #OpenBeOS channel on irc.openprojects.net
since a few month.
That server has the additional benefit that it is also home of #newos
where you can meet Travis Geiselbrecht sometimes, or talk
about kernel development, especially NewOS development.
Also other interesting channels are available. #osdev for example.
