As you say, it seems best not to use a sniffer rule here.  (I'll bet any 
imported
ogg-audio file will always have the extension '.ogg'...)  That's what I've 
done on
my system -- just removed 'META:SNIFF_RULE' from all three variants..

BTW, I couldn't seem to remove the rule using FileTypes.  If I tried deleting 
it
from the "Rule" field, it would just complain about an invalid rule, and put 
it back!
Had to use rmattr on the beos_mime entries temselves.

I forgot that I was doing all this on a pre-PM system! (:-/)  I do see, though, 
that
if I change the rule (in PM) it does create a new entry in the config tree (but 
I still
can't just delete the ruke)..  For my PM system I've just copied over the non-PM
beos_mime entries to the appropriate places in ~/config/settings/mime_db
