Can you log the console output? This is where real hardware serial ports come in awfully handy (good old HP DC7900s). When I had this problem it was because the Intel graphics driver was setting my monitor to an implausible mode. Have you tried setting a safe mode resolution? -- Gordonjcp MM0YEQ
