Does SoundPlay and its plug-in framework work in GCC5?  Or across
the GCC2 ABI boundary talking to a media kit in GCC5?  In 64 bits?

64-bit definitely not (there is no x86_64 hybrid yet)

As for gcc5h, I'd assume it works as long as we ship hybrid (gcc2)
media kit parts.
