We are looking for a font that handles Chinese and have located a
couple that seem to work. These may also work for some other
languages as well. These two are the wenquanyi microhei and zenhei
fonts, I have created zip packages for them that can be unzipped to
/boot which will put them where you can then use them

You'll also find the droid fonts at that same url, there are five or
so different fonts there. You'll notice that all of these fonts are a
bit smaller than the fonts that Haiku includes by default. The
microhei was based on the droid fonts but has had a lot of characters
added to it.

Check these over in the language(s) that you are working on and let us
know if they work for you and for what languages.
If you run into a problem like I reported in trac ticket 7223, try
rebooting. That may or may not clear up the issue. It seemed to have
worked for me.

If you know of other/better free and open source fonts that support a
wide range of character sets including Chinese, please post a url
linking to them on trac ticket 6194:
