Because of the same reason most of the new Haiku API is private: it 
hasn't been reviewed, and tested for usability, consistency, 
cleanliness, and future expandability yet. It's not at all final yet, 
and may change considerably in the future.

It's okay to use it for apps that are in the Haiku tree itself (those 
will get adapted in case the API changes), but it wouldn't be wise to 
use it in apps outside yet.
