Odd. I wonder why GitHub shows them as not being upstreamed, as it was
comparing against openSUSE:master there...

Because the example solver patch is incomplete (it computes the result, but doesn't apply it) it has not been merged by the maintainer. So unless you want to complete it, there's no point in pursuing to upstream it.
