There are two options currently in the Tracker preferences that we could 
decide to remove:

1. "Outline selection rectangle only"
If you select some files in tracker by creating a selection rectangle, that 
rectangle can be semi-transparently filled, or just 
outlined. I don't see any need for this to be an option in the GUI. Let's go 
with "filled", because that is more obvious - even for 
us folks with deteriorating eyesight...

This option may be nice to have on old/slow machines, where the 
semi-transparent rendering will be considerably slower. But maybe the code 
should "autodetect" this (CPU frequency under 1GHz for example) instead of 
having an option?


2."Generate image thumbnails"
I see why it was an option while in development and being plagued by some 
irritating bugs. But now it works quite well and I think 
that if there were options, they'd need to be more fine grained, not just 
on/off. Maybe set the image types and partitions that get 
thumbnailed?

It can result in a lot of disk access, which may not be desirable in all cases.

They can remain in 
~/boot/home/config/settings/Tracker/TrackerSettings for Powerusers(tm). 

Possibly good enough, but then we don't get to completely remove the code and 
simplify Tracker. So there isn't much win on that side.

There's also the risk that people end up with the "wrong" setting value and no 
(easy) way to adjust it after updating.
