Would that be an good start for you?

Sure, I'd like to get more familiar with replicants anyway. If I'm
not mistaken, the existing clock replicant is Be example code, yes? I
might start there as a base.

Yes, the clock replicant sample is based on Be code. Functionality wise it is close to the windows sidebar clock. So it's up to you to start off on this or just use it as reference.

If i remember correctly the sample code is using bitmaps anyway. Since it's doing this, it is kind of static and forced to a given size, so improvements are always more then welcome :)

Sad that we currently do not support transparency or the advanced clipping ZETA had, this would make the look of replicants put on the Desktop way more appealing (at least when using a wallpaper).

Do replicants have to use the fortune-cookie shaped thing in the
corner, or can that be replaced with a different image?

You can probably inherit from BDragger and do the drawing yourself. Not sure though. I might be wrong, but it can be that the dragger is currently not drawn at all because of a bug somewhere.

Best regards,
Karsten
