Hi there!
This email to let you know about some changes at Gerrit so everyone knows
what's happening.
First, we have restored commit access for js and Fredrik Modéen in the last few
months. Both were granted commit access a long time ago but had not migrated
their access to Gerrit yet.
Second, we have made it possible for all contributors to see and vote on Gerrit
configuration changes. Here is an history of changes, please confirm that you
can see it if you have commit access to Haiku:
https://review.haiku-os.org/q/project:All-Projects+branch:refs%252Fmeta%252Fconfig
Finally, here is a new change proposal to allow for development branches:
https://review.haiku-os.org/c/All-Projects/+/3836
The idea is that for some larger changes, it is not convenient to review work
in progress commits as they happen. So the work should happen in a branch
instead, with a review at the end when everything is ready.
This changes allows people with commit access to create branches with a name
starting with "dev/" and push commits directly there. This would be better than
what's done currently: either merging changes as they happen in the master
branch, or storing the branches elsewhere, for example in someone's personal
github account.
You can give a +2 to the change if you agree with that way of doing it.
Let me know if you see other things in the Gerrit configuration that should be
changed or improved.
