I prviously tried to install Haiku on my Asus ROG laptop, the latest
Beta1 Release. At that time the system crashed repeatedly in a way that
I could not do anything, not even modifying my BIOS.
Today I downloaded the hrev52992 nightly ISO, wrote it to a USB and
booted UEFI. It took time to get me to the desktop, but then I could
install Haiku and format a partition during the installation. Hurray..
:D
- Works pretty well except for Network configuration crashed.
If you can find a way to reliably reproduce this, please open a ticket (or
check the existing ones.) Most of the easily reproducible ones I already
fixed.
- No Arabic rendering for Arabic webpages.
Complex font rendering is presently not implemented in the system at all...
There's been a GSoC project for it for some years, but nobody has taken us
up on it. None of the developers currently read or write a right to left
language, so we haven't attempted it. Help welcome...
- Touchpad does not work.
It might be an Elantech. We have a driver for these but it doesn't quite
work and is disabled.
- Keyboard backlight does not work.
Not sure about this one.
Anyway, welcome! :)
