At the very least, make sure your BIOS chip is socketed, rather than soldered-in. BIOS Man fixed me right up. It wasn't at all hard to get my old chip out. I had to peel off the label and wipe it clean to read the part numbers. A new chip is $27. I also ordered a wrist grounding strap, for a total of $34.49. Their website would be a little scary for technical neophytes, but really their instructions were clear.
