All the boot loader does is to load all kernel modules it should (which
is hard-coded via the boot links), and jump into the kernel (using a
specified and versioned interface).

Unless that interface changes (or I am missing something), there is no
reason you cannot boot different versions of Haiku with one loader.
I think what he means is that the haiku package should depend on the
haiku_loader of a compatible version (range). I agree.

Is the boot loader supposed to check that dependency when trying to find bootable Haiku installations? That would be kinda cool.
