I've only really looked at the first patch, and that looks good. I'm all
for applying it, although I would closely match the 'inet6' option in
semantics (I haven't looked at the sources to be able to tell).
However, I don't think this should be the solution to the original
problem, though; getaddrinfo() should only return an IPv6 address if there
is a configured IPv6 interface (and vice versa), no matter what
resolv.conf says.
