Some LCDS and VGA edid's don't get along at all. I have run into this
before. Its not the driver, its that the card isn't happy about the edid
info. Can you manually set the screen resolution in vesa ? Some of those
older intel extreme cards and integrated chipsets don't recognize edid's
outside of the specified ones in the video bios.
