#7159: Asus A7N8X-X: USB printer connection locks up Haiku -----------------------+------------------------- Reporter: Luposian | Owner: laplace Type: bug | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: R1 Component: Printing | Version: R1/alpha2 Resolution: | Keywords: Blocked By: | Has a Patch: 0 Platform: x86 | Blocking: -----------------------+------------------------- Comment (by laplace): Replying to [comment:5 Luposian]: > Replying to [comment:2 laplace]: > > 1. There is a USB printer device that you could remove. It is not used anyway. It is in directory /system/add-ons/kernel/drivers/dev/printer. You can safely remove that directory, reboot and then test what happens when you connect the printer. > > Would like to do that, but Haiku is not at a level where I feel comfortable using it exclusively on my computer, so I am only using it in Live CD mode. It's not installed on my computer. Now, if there were a way I could build Haiku from within Haiku (GCC4 only; I'm a purist), then it becomes a lot more likely. > > > 2. There is the USB transport add-on. It is required for printing over USB. If 1. didn't fix the problem, you can remove that too. The file is "/system/add-ons/Print/transport/USB Port". > > Same situation. I'm using Live CD, not an installed copy of Haiku on my system. Can't change anything. Just tested with a Live CD. The reboot is not required. You can delete the driver & add-on from the running Live CD. -- Ticket URL: <http://dev.haiku-os.org/ticket/7159#comment:7> Haiku <http://dev.haiku-os.org> Haiku - the operating system.
