 Actually, I think it is. At least AFAIK R1.x is supposed to be able to
 upgrade an older release by using the installer of a an image on CD or USB
 and replace /boot/system/ (not sure about /boot/common/) and leave
 /boot/home/ untouched, preserving the user's settings. If that doesn't
 work, it's a bug that needs fixing.

 In any case, after updating with this same method to r38498, this issue is
 gone, as well as another ticket concerning Tracker add-on shortcuts. It
 looks more like some sort of fluke because there were no commits in this
 regard, I think.
 Closing ticket as invlid.
