 I forgot to mention that the official i915resolution (
 http://915resolution.mango-lang.org/ ) doesn't natively support the
 GMA500, instead it requires this patch:

 http://svn.exactcode.de/t2/trunk/package/contrib/915resolution/gma500.patch

 Then I can use i915resolution in conjunction with uvesafb and get 2D good
 enough for SD video playback, youtube etc. without using the flaky psb X11
 driver. In fact I benchmarked them and uvesafb managed to outperform the
 'proper' poulsbo X11 driver in many instances.

 Is this i915/GMA500 BIOS patching code any use to you getting the GMA500
 working with the Intel Extreme or the VESA driver Axel? Fingers crossed us
 poulsbo users aren't SOL again - I'll assist with this however I can.
