Most likely this was an issue caused by the uninitialized interval value.
Possibly the poll interval was just large enough that the keyboard entered
the phantom state during normal typing causing the missed keys (and key
releases for that matter, causing the repeates). If this assumption is
correct it was fixed by r39904.
