 Michael makes a good point that if VESA causes the backlight to work but
 the ATI driver doesn't, it must be a graphics driver issue. Where in the
 Haiku driver architecture would the scratch register code be?

 I do think it still would be good to have a backlight ACPI driver (maybe
 even with keyboard hotkey support) so I may work on that too eventually.
 Though I can do that on any laptop I suppose, not just this one.
