#17483: Intel GMA (Q45) does not change resolution with a new monitor

I changed out my monitor with one that has a higher resolution. When I try
to change the resolution now using the control panel, it doesn't change
the output resolution. When the resolution is bigger, parts of the screen
just get cut off, if it is smaller it repeats the screen in the horizonal
axis and shows some garbled stuff at the bottom in the y axis. The refresh
rate is fixed at 60 Hz, I can however still change the bit depth. Using
the VESA driver I can change the resolution and when rebooting it does
keep the resolution and shows everything fine in that resolution. The mode
switch did work fine using the old monitor
The last things I did before saving the syslog were setting to a lower
resolution (1024x768), setting to a higher resolution (1680x1050) and
changing the refresh rate down from 85 Hz to 60 Hz. Switching the
resolution changed the drawn area, but not the produced video signal,
changing the refresh rate didn't do anything.
