 Another option would be you just place a 32bit image on a USB stick and
 place the driver on that, so you don't have to touch your existing Haiku
 install.

 Would that be workable for you? I'm not ready yet to publish the
 modification and I currently only have a 32bit system to compile. Also,
 the 32bit version gives more options to test since on 64bit you will not
 be able to switch modes in VESA mode from the desktop: and that might very
 well be needed.
