No, it doesn't; that commit (hrev52562) was just removing a workaround
that isn't needed anymore.
The real problem is that the HDA driver appears to block in
hda_stream_start. I don't know why this freezes the whole OS though; you
can drop to KDL via the emergency keys at least, which is how I saw that
in the first place.
