An idea to try:
set "packet->size" to 16 (instead of sizeof(disk_address_packet)) at
http://cgit.haiku-
os.org/haiku/tree/src/system/boot/platform/bios_ia32/devices.cpp#n651
disk_address_packet is defined with an additional field flat_buffer, which
is unused anyway.
