In case anyone is interested... "The mall" is the grassy area in the center of campus (where the line following robots were raced last month).

VIEW RARE VENUS TRANSIT FROM CMU CAMPUS TUESDAY JUNE 5TH

Venus will be making a rare transit of the Sun visible in Pittsburgh from
6:00 p.m. until sunset on the Tuesday, June 5th. The last time Venus
transited the Sun was 8 years ago, but it won?t happen again until 2117.

Visit the Carnegie Mellon campus on the mall between Doherty and Baker
Halls to talk with astronomers about the event, view the sun safely with
eclipse glasses and telescope installations. A NASA live feed will show
the Venus transit from locations around the planet Earth.

Get involved! Download the free app VenusTransit and help scientist time
the instant of first and second contact as the transit begins.

For further information or to volunteer to help with this event, contact
Nick Battaglia, Michelle Ntampaka or Diane Turnshek.
