All-Community Call Invite 11/3/16
Hello Nation of Makers,
The Transition Group would like to invite you to an All-Community conference
call convened on Thursday Nov 3rd at 8pm ET for presentations by the Tiger
Teams and State Ambassadors. The time of this call was picked based on
feedback from community members who responded to a Doodle poll of prospective
dates. The purpose of the meeting is primarily for Tiger Teams to present
brief summaries of the scouting work they completed for the Oct 10th
deadline, and for State Ambassadors to introduce work they did over the
summer to the larger community. This is a basic introduction to the material,
all of the amazing work done collectively definitely could not fit into the
time allotted, and there will be more formal and durable ways to turn these
suggestions over to organization as it is forming.
Additionally, there will be more information related to the November 15th
plan.

NoM RALLYING CRY
The Nation Of Makers isn’t about us. It’s about this great Movement… Yes, it
all started with hackerspaces but it’s grown way beyond that. We’ve hacked
the system. We've said ‘We’re Here, We’re NOT Going Anywhere, and We’re Going
to Change The Status Quo!’ We yelled so loud that the the US Government heard
us! They’ve never seen a community this strong!
Now, there are Not Only HackerSpaces, but now MakerSpaces, FabLabs, Events
and even Schools and Organizations are jumping on this wave! Yes, we all do
things a bit differently, but each of provide people a community to learn new
skills, create their own companies, work for themselves and more!
There are so many people who didn’t and don’t get to make in the way we do.
We are the lucky ones who’ve created this ecosystem. We need to Show The
WORLD that we can take this to the Next Level! Look what we all have
accomplished in just One Short Decade! Still, so many people don’t know what
a fab lab is let alone a maker or hackerspace. Let’s change that! Let’s
Change How Everything is Done, from the way employers hire people to the way
children learn. We have that power. It all starts here!
So let’s HACK THE SYSTEM,
Let’s WRITE HISTORY so that we will live on forever!
Let’s have it stated that IT ALL STARTED HERE!
It all started WITH THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE!
We LIT THE FIRE!
We are the ones that need to TAKE THAT EMBER and make it into into a WILDFIRE!
Make it something that is BIGGER and will OUTLIVE US!
Let’s be the MAKERS THAT MAKE THE WAVES that crash ashore and MAKE THE WORLD
ANEW.
We can MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
We are DIFFERENT!
We have that POWER!
We are A COMMUNITY!
We work TOGETHER!
WE ARE ONE NATION, UNDER MAKING
WE WILL BE THE PEOPLE WHO CHANGE THIS WORLD!

Additionally, please remember to nominate folks you feel like would be ideal
candidates for board of advisors or board of director positions. The deadline

Due to the compressed timeline, the Transition Group is currently making a
lot of proposals and recommendations, but it is very important to the whole
community that we keep the bottom-up values of the maker movement central.
Members should feel empowered to identify needs and act on them collectively
or locally. You should be ready to both to advise the Transition Group and
the new Nation of Makers organization, and to participate as part of a robust
do-ocracy on the points where you see the most powerful potential for change.
Please self-organize and horizontally share to build an effective network of
peers. We look forward to hearing your feedback and collective knowledge!
