Dear Friends,
I am excited to report that the collective strategic planning process and the
transitioning group are progressing to the point of specific recommendations
for action. This is incredibly exciting as it means there is, on the near
horizon, potential organizational capacity to begin addressing the details of
diagnostic statements and scouting activities, putting ideas to the test as a
specific plan of action is being proposed and feedback requested.
To provide you all details about the proposed course of action and outline a
process for everyone’s feedback, I am inviting the Transitioning Group to
join me on a call with as many of you as possible. And I do want to emphasize
that this is a proposed path which both I and the transitioning group are
interested in feedback on and not an already set or determined course of
action.
The maker movement is characteristically bottom-up and I know that so many
conversations in previous meetings here at the White House, on Slack, in the
Facebook group, over the phone, and in person between all of you have been
focused on how to maintain this while simultaneously building an increased
support structure. I believe the proposed plan from the transitioning team
full agrees with this desire and could accomplish a tremendous amount of
collective good all while not imposing formality or top-down controls that
would undermine the very things about the community that make it what it is.
To discuss all of this and more, I would like to invite you to join me this
Thursday (September 29th) at 8pm ET. Please note that while I have asked for
the additional capacity again for the call, the total number of lines I can
accommodate dialing in is limited to 250 and so will be on a first-come,
first-serve up to that number at the time of the call.
When: Thursday, September 29 @ 8pm ET

· Brief Overview of Transitioning Process
