Also, there is another call with folks from the National Science Foundation
(NSF) about an upcoming opportunity (due in December) to apply for what is
called an EAGER grants (Early-concept Grants for Exploratory Research). NSF
is specifically trying to reach out to makers by having issued what is called
a Dear Colleague Letter, but that is expiring at the end of this year (you
can read it in full here: https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2015/nsf15086/nsf15086.jsp ;
<https://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2015/nsf15086/nsf15086.jsp>). I think these grants
are ideal for maker organizations as they do not have some of the same
processes as larger NSF grants but are still for sizable amouts of funding
(up to $350,000). The call will discuss details, including how to apply. I’ve
pasted more information below my signature line (it is good to note that this
call is not a repeat one and will have additional information to the previous
call, which I know a number of folks were able to join).
Best,
Andrew Coy
