JSX enables you to conveniently install a set of scripts that are supplied in a zip archive -- the files are placed in appropriate locations for JAWS. JSX also enables you to package script or other configuration files for installation by others. The package can be either a zip archive or a self-executing installer. JSX incorporates the free installation technology called Inno Setup, which is also available independently from the web site http://InnoSetup.org This version of JSX is compatible with Windows Vista. It has a more advanced capability to merge new scripts with existing ones. At the end of its installation process, three popular, open source script sets are now offered. These options are unchecked by default. You can check one or more of them to install their zip archives with JSX: BX, the Jaws toolbox by Doug Lee (BSD license) HomerKit, the Homer script library and editor interface by Jamal Mazrui (LGPL license) Visual Studio scripts by contributors from the blind programming community (public domain) The zip archives are placed in a zip subfolder of the JSX program folder. Shortcuts for installing them are included in the JSX program group on the Start Menu, so they may be installed at a later point, not just during installation of JSX. A shortcut and zip archive are also made available for reading full documentation of JAWS, itself, in "structured text format." These are .txt files with organizational conventions that add navigational benefits of .chm files (the help format installed with JAWS). EdSharp, a powerful, speech-friendly editor, recognizes structured text format, and has hotkeys for efficiently searching topics or navigating sections within it. This free editor is available at http://EmpowermentZone.com/edsetup.exe At present, JSX is the leading installer and packager for third-party JAWS scripts. It brings Vista compatibility, merge features, and sample packages.
