Good afternoon Elizabeth, I'm glad to hear you have a shop near you. The
standard clay is coloured Terra cotta and I think white. You can get coloured
clays but they cost more. and sold in small blocks. I don't get the coloured
ones as I paint my models with acrylic paint. I have no sight at all so all my
modelling is done by touch. I can't remember if I told you yesterday but I
made a model of a penguin and a kangaroo. They will be left out now for a week
and then ready for painting. Have a nice day today and stay in, its very cold
out there.

Malcolm; There is a Hobbycraft shop not very far from where I live and I go
there from time to time when I can get someone to take me. I shall buy some
airclay next time I get there. I enjoyed modelling castles when I attended
pottery classes years ago and this is something I could do again even with
limited eyesight. Also good to have on hand when my greatgrandchildren visit.
Thanks again for the information. Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth, you can get it from any decent hobby
I get mine from Hobby Craft in Stockport. You could try the internet if
someone can do it for you. It is called Air Clay and cost between £3 to 4£.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Malcolm: I should love to have a go at mogelling with air clay. It would
be a change from card making but where would I obtain supplies from? Do you get
yours from the blind club? Elizabeth

Hi
I use air clay. it is pliable while damp. When model is finished just leave
it out to dry. About a week. Then paint it and glaze it with a liquid solution
which gives it a glazed look. You don't have to fire it. Hope this helps.

Malcolm, Are your models solid clay or do you have theopportunity to fire and
glaze them?
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth, I do my models free hand, I go off memory and touch as I am
totally blind. I have just started doing it about eight weeks ago and I love
it. So hopefully more to come. I have just got a talking book for Beginners
hoping to get some idea's to give me more scope.
I don't have anyone to work with me I just do it on my own at the club . I have
bought some tools and more clay to start doing it at home.

love Malcolm. xxx
