Newest 'fattest man on the planet' comes from London and needs help of 18
carers to help keep him alive

Bed-ridden Keith Martin breakfasts on eight hot dogs a day

Big Body Squad: Keith Martin is set to be subject of Channel 5 show
Ahead of this summer?s Olympics, it seems as if Great Britain has already
bagged one alternative world-beating accolade with the planet's ?fattest man?
living in London.

At 58 stone, Keith Martin is so large that he requires 18 carers to help keep
him alive.

The 42-year-old is now thought to be the fattest man on Earth after the
preceding obesity champion went on a crash diet, dropping from 90 stone to a
mere 31 and a half stone.

Bed-ridden and unable to find clothes that fit him due to his six-foot waist,
Keith is reported to spend his days watching television and gorging on sweets,
cakes, biscuits and sausages.

His dinner often includes two whole roast dinners with all the trimmings,
having typically kicked off his day with eight hot dogs for breakfast.

Mr. Martin needs the assistance of eight ambulance workers to help shift his
enormous frame to a reinforced vehicle for frequent hospital visits close to
his home in Harlesden, north-west London.

These health checks are the only times he has left his bed in the last ten
years.

Strain: Colossal weight puts Keith's internal organs under pressure
Super-sized Keith is also said to need the attention of four carers to visit
him twice a day and four nurses three times a week to wash him and monitor his
health.

Also forming part of his legion of round-the-clock carers are his two sisters,
who take turns to make house visits. Keith is thought not to have had a
girlfriend in over twenty years.

Despite being reliant on such assistance, Keith does not blame anyone but
himself for his condition - although he does pinpoint the death of his mother
as a trigger for his vast consumption.

?My mother died when I was 16 and I didn?t care about anything after that and I
couldn?t care less about what happened to me ? I ate anything and everything,?
he is reported to have told a Channel 5 documentary, scheduled to air next
Wednesday.

?I blame myself. It was my fault and I hate what I have done to myself.?

Mexican Manuel Uribe, 44, is still listed as the heaviest man in the Guinness
Book of Records in spite of his near 60 stone weight loss.
