here i am up and down, up and extremely excited i could have jumped over the
moon, as i had a phone call saying they were bringing me a new electric laying
down arm chair as my other one is broke, it came this morning, i asked the men
does it lay down, yes they said and the men took my broken one away, the lead
is too short but i pressed the button to lay it down with me not in it, i was
by it, it does not lay down, it only goes back a little, i think it is for
someone just to raise their legs, it is definitely not like my broken one to
lay you flat and stand you up, i phoned occupational therapist to find it is
her day off, phoned the stores, phoned m p, m p will work her magic, she is
good girl, i know she helps everyone, phone call from social services saying
this new chair is only temparily until they fix my broken chair and that they
have not got another one as the one that is broken is a specialised chair,
which i think they should have a spare in the stores, my chair has been to
repairs before and came back worse where the mechanism grunts and groans, it is
lop sided, it don't go all the way flat as it used to and the foot piece they
put a piece of wood in, where it used to be padded, how it happened was i was
laying on my chair long time ago, i cannot do dates, but it was three houses
before this one i live in, i was listening to an e book on u tube on my
computer, my head phones were hearing my computer go off and on like a yo yo,
then it was silence, no sound, pressed my chair to stand me up, it would not go
up, no sound from it, got scared now as could not hear no sounds, stuck in
chair, thought world had come to an end and i am only one alive, you know
silence of not hearing anything, i have super sonic hearing i can hear electric
crackling in plug sockets, i can hear the ice cream man five musical sounds
away, i would be good in work where they needed you to listen for the u boats
or radar, but this time i could not hear the noise of the fridge or anything, i
pressed my life line, no noise from the life line, now i got petrified, i had
to get to some noise, i have to hear something as the sound of something makes
me feel alive, i truly know how deaf people feel, i need sound from radio, t v,
our talking computer, anything, but not even life line was working, i had to
get off chair, i knew i could not stay like this, so i dragged slidingly
downwards and the stupid chair nearly tipped forward and on doing so the foot
piece snapped, after extremely painful struggle and felt like hours later i
was up, it turned out that the whole area was black out, i think that is right
words, everyone everywhere had no electric, life line does not work without
electric, they said they have battery back up, it has done this several times
even here where i live now, life line do not work with no electric and they can
hardly hear me in same room and cannot hear me at all from bedroom or bathroom
etcetera, occupational therapist had chair picked up for repairs, it was a
brand new chair and had a one year guarantee, it should have gone back to
manufacturers, but she say for repairs, it came back where it will not lay
flat, grunts and groans when going up and down, is lop sided and where foot
piece snapped had been replaced with a piece of wood with sharp edges, no
padding there, so all this time she knows its broke and i moved from there to
another house and then to here it has not been serviced, so now i have a
tempory unusable new chair until my broken chair is fixed, if they cannot fix
it, social services said they will get another, i have put my throw over this
chair that came today to keep it clean as there is no way i can use it and it
might be forever before they pick this up, cupboard and patio doors still not
done, this is the norm here, it took as you know two years to fix the intercom
system, they put a very big heavy cupboard up onto thin plaster board which has
no bricks or wood behind the partitioned plaster board, it was obvious it would
fall eventually, carer is back in work but not been to me, wonder if she will,
hope you liked another day in the daily life of living.
