Hello Malcolm 

When I was a kid (about 10 years ago), we used to write secret messages in 
lemon juice.  When the paper was held in front of a source of heat, the writing 
turned brown and you could read it.  (I could see then.) 

All Alex has to do is hold a heater up to the screen and Ella will then be able 
to read it.  Whether Guide can convert it into speech is a technical matter 
that is far beyond me!
