Hi, Jenny.
The only Valor stove I remember was a paraffin heater. We used them in the
winter to heat the bedrooms.
I've a feeling Health and Safety would go spare at the thought of them nowadays!
And, yes, filling the coal bucket was a pain...especially in the winter, and
the freezing rain and snow. I remember cursing that blasted coal bunker as I
used the pick to separate the coal from the ice!

Does anyone remember the black Valour stove? we had one on very cold nights,
it gave a pattern on the ceiling and a smell of its own
My job was to fill the coal bucket, unfortunately I had a very bad tempered
mother who would shout if I or my brothers did not notice that the damn bucket
was empty.
Thank goodness for central heating.
Jenny C
