Hi, Carol;
It's never easy meeting someone in that situation. I've had to do it too many
times over the years, but I'll never get used to it.
I don't know how my minister, Steve, coped last year ( 2012). He had to deal
with 125 funerals from January to December. How he keeps his sense of the
ridiculous is beyond me.
Anyway, I have two funerals this week to attend now - the chap whose widow I
visited today, and another one, because I'm on door duty at funerals for the
next fortnight in the church.
The classic was one last year, when the church was hushed as the minister spoke
of the deceased, Andy's, sense of fun.
Then the silence was broken by a mobile phone with the ring tone "Smoke gets in
your eyes".
Yep.
Andy, ever the practical joker, knew his time was up. He'd made arrangements
for someone to ring his phone - which was in the coffin - during a pause....
And, yes - Andy was cremated....
Sometimes you get a laugh at funerals!

oh wow your back to normal brilliant
oh nice you went to church and ah that is awful Daft jim your friends only lost
her husband just after christmas
must be difficult talking to them because i am very happy go lucky I can put my
foot in it a lot not meaning it though
I slipped up before christmas you know when I went to church the sunday before
christmas eve when I sang silent night to guitar wehn talking in tea room later
with minced pie wine
man sat there but some one spoke to him told him to cheer up
so like me big mouth
I said life is too short
oh daft jim could of kicked myself so hard
this man had watched his dog get knocked down under car before his eyes oh I
felt shocking
anyway he said its alright we not to know
so few people in the tea room asked him would he get new pet dog.
he said no
so we just left it at that.
very hard to try and have conversation with some one who just had a loss
bet you find it difficult what to say and how to word your words if you know
what I mean daft jim
oh so complicated
its strange because our pasta always told us never to grudge others if they
don't smile its because they have damn good reasons
I now realise that now
this is why i think if people speak up then we can understand them much more
and not waffle on especially me anyway
