In the past I have been refused to use my Chip and Signature card.
I have a right to use my Chip and Signature card, just as anyone else using
Chip and Pin Card.
I carry a letter off the discrimination acts, and if anyone refuses to accept
my Chip and Signature Card, I give them my letter from my purse and they then
have to accept my card in payment of the goods.
If they refuse I have the right to call the police and they will be in breach
of the law / disability discrimination acts.
I have attached the letter to this email, so press escape and read the attached
letter.
You can print this letter and keep it in your purse or wallet next to your Chip
and Signature Card.
At first I was very afraid at the counter with my goods and walked out of the
shop without any shopping.
I was sweating, breathing fast, I went into complete panic attack mode etc. You
do not want to know how bad I get fears, my heart beats a zillion, my head
hurts, I want to run away and scream help as loud as I can, but I am to scared
to.
On Monday April 11 2009, I went to a shop and my shopping goods were put on the
counter for paying.
The man refused my Chip and Signature card, I instantly gave him the letter
from my purse.
I heard him reading the letter to his boss over the telephone out loud, I also
him saying to his boss that he cannot refuse as he will be in breach of the law.
I never flinched, I never had any sign of fear, say well done ! ! ! !
My daughter said the shop was filling up inside and started queuing up outside.
I told her I have a right to buy my shopping as much as anyone else. I said
Sorry to the people in the queue, and they said it was ok, go for it girl.
The man had to OVER RIDE my card to make the till roll be a signature receipt.
I also had the cheek to ask for 50 pounds cash back and I left the shop with my
shopping, 50 pounds and a halo for being brave for the first time and making a
stand for my rights.
If your card will not go through the till, tell them they can OVER RIDE the
till and put your card numbers in manually to make it Chip and Signature.
Good luck, it is very scary at first, but if I can do it, I am sure you can too.
