Sam, Denise and Donna -- this is a great opportunity to make a formal list
of concerns from GSIS to Accountability as to what the concerns are around
the state. We could even do a survey and poll our attendees to see if they
have anything to add.

Hey, Flora! Hope all is going well this morning. I’m enjoying seeing you
with your new grandbaby on FB. Isn’t is just the best?
As I’ve been dealing with CCRPI the last couple of weeks, I am wondering if
GSIS might be willing to send a list of suggestions to Accountability on
changes that districts would benefit from. I’ve been keeping a list on my
desk:
· There should be a minimal # of days attended before a student is
considered to be enrolled for the purposes of graduation rate
calculations. A school should not be penalized for a student who transfers
in, attends just a few days, and then drop outs.
· Elementary schools should not be excluded from earning the ½ point
for ETB indicator #2 (fine arts participation) due solely to assignments of
students to a GNETS center that does not offer Fine Arts instruction.
· Days Made Up should be subtracted from Total Days Absent when
accountability calculates the attendance indicator for both the main CCRPI
index indicator and the School Climate Rating.
· School Climate Ratings should exclude Battery Level I as a
‘violent incident.’ The language of the matrix does not support inclusion
of this code. (I already suggested this to Jeff Hodges & Marilyn Watson)
I am happy to send such a list from Effingham, but just thought it might be
more impactful from GSIS and some of the board members may have other
suggestions to add. Thank you!
