Hello,
This is not true. I have a 250 gb hard drive, and the only power it uses is the usb port. There is no power supply, it pluggs directly into the usb of the Bn, and it works just fine. I have had other drives as well, and they have worked just fine without a power supply. So, to say that the bn can not power a external hard drive without an external power supply is just not true.
Good luck,

Robert Stigile

Flor,

You're right, but it will only work if you find a way to provide
external
power to the drive. The M-Power doesn't have enough current
handling
capability to supply power to any kind of hard drive.

The MPower has USB ports - two host ports stacked atop each
other, and one
smaller 'client', which you'd use for ActiveSync or braille USB
connection
to your main computer. guessing that the drive would be plugged
into one
of
the two larger USB ports.

Alex, how do you connect your BN to the pocket hard drive? Mine
is PK.

Western Digital work well, but I have never had a problem with
my
Seagate 6gb pocket hard drive. The best way to find out is to
try; either talk the person helping you find the drive into
letting you try it out or buy it, ensuring you can return it if
it does not work, and try it after you buy it. Just try it in
the
store--what can they do? You just bought it and it is now your
property, plus if it fails to work with the BN you can just tell
them immediately instead of going home, trying it, and having to
return from the store. You may also want to find one that works
well and then find that same one (ask someone for the model
number) on a site like http://www.newegg.com (low-priced
computer
parts and accessories--a great site!) HTH.

Have a great day,
Alex

I've thought about getting a pocket hard drive to use for
transferring maps or other large files to my BN. Does anyone
have experience with which brands or models of these work with
the BN's usb port?
