On My HTC S743 SmartPhone, I can toggle the look-around announcements on or off using Home+Long-Enter.

Code Factory provides a little program to do this.
At least they used to.
However, my experience is that the Holux does so superior a job that it isn't worth using the
built in receiver.
But, if you want to use the built-in receiver go to the code factory page and fill out the help
ticket and I'm sure they can direct you as to how to do this.

I will say though, that Mobile Geo is very disappointing on the Blackjack II. As soon as you create a route, or it seems do aything else, the announcements for intersections, etc
is disabled and I can's get it back.

I think you need to install some 3rd party software in order to make the

recommend this because it could cause other issues. What those issues are I
have no Idea. I haven't seen any issues but whos to say that it doesn't
cause other problems. Also this software was messing up the internet on
other phones which is why Code Factory didn't include this exe. Not sure if
it will work on the new Jack or not.

So you can use at your own risk to get the COM4 internal GPS receiver. You
will need to ask Codefactory for this package to unlock your internal GPS
receiver.

Thank you Tim. I have just spent the last 2, yes, 2 hours on the phone with

AT&T trying to get them to figure out if my internal receiver was even
activated or not, since I don't use the AT&T navigator program. By the time

it was all over, they said I had to have a data package in order to access
the receiver. Being gullible, I believed them and am now the proud owner of

a monthly unlimited data plan. However, this still did not allow Mobile Geo

to see my receiver. When I go into settings, the only coms available in the

list are 1, 5 and 9. According to the wise beings at AT&T, the com they use

for navigator is 80.

So, I am back where I started. No Geo, and now I have a higher bill to pay!

Smile.

I can do my own research to see about an external receiver but can you give
me an idea of what they would run and how large they are? I'm down to like
13 days on my trial period now and between being in the hospital and
multiple phone issues, I am fast running out of time without ever getting to

try this thing. I'd hate to go buy another piece of equipment if I won't be

able to use this program on this phone, which is a Samsung Jack. I did call

the Sendero group for help but they really could not tell me anything
either. They said they were not at all familiar with this phone. Sigh.

Thanks for your help, Lynn

Hello Lynn,

The truth is that you would be better off getting a Bluetooth external GPS
receiver to use with MobileGeo.

You can find a tool/cab file on the internet that will make the internal GPS

receiver visible on a COM port so MobileGeo can use, but this will make your

phone battery drain quite quickly as the GPS is constantly ffunctioning even

when not being use by MobileGeo.

Also, I don't believe the accuracy of the internal GPS receiver would be as
good as an external receiver such as the Holux M1000 that is recommended by
Sendero.

Those are my personal opinions, others may differ.

Tim

Subject: [gps-talkusers] configuration issue of mobile Geo on Samsung Jack

Hello,
I am new to the list and really need some help here. I have finished
installing the trial of Mobile Geo on my Samsung Jack phone. I found,
downloaded and installed the maps and poi's on the storage card of my phone.
now, I can't figure out how to get the internal GPS receiver configured. I
know it has one, as it comes with ATT Navigator, which I do not use nor want
to use. I would have called the group on the phone but my cell phone is my
long distance phone so could not use it and configure it at the same time!
Smile. Could anyone at all please help me get this thing working before my
trial runs out? I have had so many issues with the phone right after I
installed the trial period that I now only have about 2 weeks left and would
like to get a chance to use it at least once before the time runs out.

Thanks for any help,
