Hello,I must admit, I find Navigon pritty good, and the information regarding street names is comparable to other aps I have tried.I live inn a fairly rural area, but still get most of this type of info. After opening Navigon, select (show map), and when you touch the screen just above the ap-switch button, the current street or road name is anounnced, if it is in Navigon's system.Hope this helps, and that I haven't misled you. I'm going to try the aps that Richard T mentiond. All the best, Richard.----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Turner" <richard@xxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, January 31, 2011 2:34 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: buying a Iphone as a stand alone GPS DeviceHi Jery,Navigon, doesn't really tell you the street you are on very well. it is good for routes, but it you are wanting to check you current location it is easier to do that with apps like, "I-Map-U" or "A1GPS light" or if you have an active 3g account, the Sendero Look Around app. Navigon shows you the next street you are heading for in the lower right-hand corner. I suspect if you went into options and brought up the turn-by-turn list, you would be able to tell which street you are currently on. I've not taken the time to do that. That may, in the end, be as good as using another app in conjunction with Navigon.HTH, Richard (Sent from Richard's iPod Touch) On Jan 31, 2011, at 4:17 AM, "Gerry Leary" <lgerry3@xxxxxxxxx> wrote:I just bought Navigan, and I wonder if anyone here knows how to work with it? It seems as though the only thing you can do with it is to plan a route. I don't know how to get it to tell me which street I am on. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Turner" <richard@xxxxxxxxxxxx>To change your email settings (unsubscribe, digest only, or vacation mode):To: <gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, January 29, 2011 11:55 AM Subject: [gps-talkusers] Re: buying a Iphone as a stand alone GPS DeviceI don't see why not.
