Steve, Well done for taking up that particular map problem with Charles in a better way than I could have done, as you understand it better! <Smiles> I agree with you about the number of POIS now given in the centre of Reading. I found they were coming at me from everywhere the other day . . .. Oh, what fun! <Smiles> -- Carol carol.pearson@xxxxxxxxxxxx ----- Original Message ----- From: Steven Bingham To: gps-talkusers@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, August 15, 2007 5:24 PM Subject: [gps-talkusers] UK MAP DATA Hi all Following on from my little outburst about the map data and Sendero's handling of directions at roundabouts. I have had some exchanges of information (and views) with Charles and we are hopeful that improvements are on the way. I would urge all UK users (and the same is probably true for the rest of Europe and the US) to report as many descrepancies as possible to TeleAtlas. It is the only way that things can be improved. Some errors definitely show signs of human intervention so there is more than a machine working on the maps and POIs. Apart from the problems that I have raised with directions at roundabouts I must say that the system is working really well for the main purpose for which I purchased it. When walking I am quite confident that it is telling me exactly where I am. In fact, around our town centre there are now so many POIs that the system is unable to present them all in a timely manner. Last time I was out I had to have a coffee while I worked through the long list of POIs within half a mile of the coffee bar. The staff at Sendero have done a good job in producing the latest version and I am sure that if we all work together to improve map data we will end up with a good system working on good data. Steve
