Hi,
2016-11-09 1:19 GMT+01:00 Andy <s2gre9e7bs@xxxxxxxxxxx>:
My original plan was to try to update my current subscription to the new URL.
After much gnashing of teeth, I copied the Database from Windows to Linux
and used gpo to rewrite the URL. I copied it back to Windows and tried
running gPodder. I got some strange behavior - some episodes showed up in
the list twice, and I'm not sure if there's any other weirdness.
Note that "gpo" is also available on Windows (gpo.exe / "CLI" start menu item).
What is the right way to proceed? Should I try to update the current
subscription? Am I better off just starting a new subscription? I don't
want to re-download the episodes I already have. Any opinions?
I don't see the old RSS feed, so I can't check if the GUIDs have
changed (which might explain episodes showing up twice -- the ones you
downloaded with the old GUIDs and the ones in the feed with the new
GUID).
You could manually go into the SQLite3 database file and edit the
GUIDs of your downloads to the new GUIDs, although that's a manual
process and potentially tedious. There's nothing we can do really
about that in an automated fashion, the podcast authors shouldn't have
changed the GUIDs and should have provided a permanent feed redirect
from the old URL (then gPodder should behave correctly). That is,
assuming that it's really the GUIDs that have changed and not
something else.
HTH :)
Thomas
