Hi Sean,
There is a section of the GOODFEEL Help file devoted to importing MIDI files
into Lime. Lime's import of MusicXML is fairly seamless. Lime's import of
MIDI is workable but definitely not what I would call elegant or user-friendly.
We have deliberately focused development efforts on creating a robust import
feature for MusicXML since it is a standard for interchange of notation
information. MIDI is not notation-based although MIDI files can be interpreted
by applications like Lime and rendered as notation. MIDI is a
performance-based method of recreating which notes switched on and off with
reference to timing measured as ticks per quarter-note.
All that being said, my recommendation would be to review the section of our
help file on preparing MIDI files for transcription by GOODFEEL. The most
important thing to do is to quantize your MIDI file. GOODFEEL can actually
load MIDI files directly but you will get far better results if you import the
MIDI information into Lime first and make any required edits.
All of that being said, somebody must have made a utility to convert MIDI files
into MusicXML. That would be the simplest way to go. Then you could import
the resulting MusicXML into Lime and not have to fuss with Lime's not-so-good
MIDI import feature.
To access the standard Windows Help file for GOODFEEL: run GOODFEEL 4.x. Type
ALT+H for the Help menu and then press ENTER to open the Help file. Arrow down
through the list of tropics. When you find the entry for Preparing files for
GOODFEEL, press the enter key. It should open up a list of sub-topics
including one on preparing MIDI files. With these kinds of Help files, you
must press enter to open the topic and then use F6 to toggle between the list
of topics and the content you want to read.

Hi,
Send me the XML file so I can try it. 6 lines sounds like guitar tab.
The compressed XML files (MXL) can easily be handled by changing the extension
to .zip and extracting the files the way you would extract files from a zip
file. We should document this better.
Send me the MIDI file too.
Albert

All,
I have just had a lesson with my guitar teacher. The music I have imported into
Lime via a Music.xml file. Firstly did not have a staff sign which we added.
Using g clef one octave lower ;which is for guitar. What he observed is the
staff went from 5 lines to 6. Should this happen?
Also when I use musicscore 3, the compress files are not supported by Lime. Is
there any plans to provide this support?
Midi files, I downloaded one and Lime or Good Field could not import it. Good
Field crashed with a memory error. Is there any special things you need to do
here?
