Tally or any other proprietary software has it's own way of managing
data and in most cases the format is closed legacy program.
This is one of the very reasons why open sorce and open standards are so
important.
Well, the way to go about this entire issue is by exporting to some
format that other software at least understands.
We have exported to excel spreadsheets as you can see by trying out
export data feature in the administration menu.
It will export list of accounts and list of vouchers.
Tally people can then any how manipulate the spreadsheet to suit any
version of tally that imports from excel spreadsheet.
They may have to adjust the columns a bit but every version of tally on
purpose has some changes to their way of export and import from
spreadsheet. You can certainly guess why they must be doing so.
