The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work in the Department of Army and explore Federal careers while still in school and while getting paid for the work performed. The Department of the Army Pathways Interns may be converted to a permanent position within 120 days of successful completion of the program. Position Duration/Expectation: Positions will be temporary not-to-exceed 09/30/2013. May be extended in 6 months increments based on continued need/funds for the position and the student's continued compliance in the Intern Program. KEY REQUIREMENTS * Must be a current student or enrolled/accepted for enrollment as a student. * Must be a least 16 years old. ________________________________ DUTIES: ON-THE-JOB-TRAINING: * Assist staff by performing portions of assignments, drafting invitations for bids, requests for proposals, and contractual document and review supporting documents. * Perform assignments selected to develop skills and provide a practical contract specialist experience. Trainee must be able to complete progressively difficult task and be responsible for the work. * Assist higher graded Contract Specialist on various aspects of contract formulation and negotiations; student trainees participate in projects such as preparing contract documentation, spreadsheets, graphs and charts. * Perform analysis of contracting issues. ________________________________ QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS FOR GS-03: Basic Qualifications: Students must have successfully completed one (1) full academic year of undergraduate education.
