I have been having the same problem. It arose when Microsoft sent an update
that did not apparently fully install properly. Microsoft always sends
these updates and stealthily loads them whether you want them or not.
Anyway, I have Norton Anti-virus, so I went through their portal to retrieve
the latest virus definitions, and went back to Microsoft to get their latest
updates, installed both, and that seems to have fixed the problem.
My computer bogged down so badly, was very slow to start up, took forever to
process each mouse-click, and hug up often. Really a time waster.
