Dear Babette, I enjoyed your last class and learned so much. I have done my homework and look forward to the next class in September. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend the June class. Thank you for leading the group. -Patricia De Luca --- On Thu, 5/21/09, Babette <ggcsquicksig@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Babette <ggcsquicksig@xxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [ggcsquicksig] June 9th Quicken SIG Meeting - Last Meeting of the Summer To: "SIGLIST" <ggcsquicksig@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thursday, May 21, 2009, 10:13 AM The June Quicken SIG meeting will be our last meeting until September, since we take our annual hiatus in July and August. (It's hard to compete with fresh air and sunshine, not to mention vacations!) So we'd like to have the meeting cover areas of the Quicken program that YOU want to talk about. Please let us know, via this list, what you'd like us to address, and what problems have been particularly troublesome for you. Babette P.S. At several meetings, there have been comments that Significant Others (SOs) have no knowledge of how Quicken works - to the the extent that if something happened to the Offical Quicken User in the household, the SO would not be able to access data to determine what accounts existed, what bills were dues, etc. In some cases, the SO doesn't even keep track of bills as they come in. Frankly, this is a gender-neutral problem. In some cases the male is the Keeper of Quicken, in others, it's the female SO.. I wonder if you think a Significant Other class might be useful? More importantly, would anyone attend? Could you browbeat your SO to at least learn the very basics of how to open the program, look at accounts, find scheduled bills, etc.? Perhaps with an awareness of what's there, we could lure them into more active engagement in tracking household finances. (If you're scared witless that they might muck up the whole data base while learning, you can password protect accounts so they can be viewed but not changed.) Let me know what y'all think about this idea. bb GGCSQUICKSIG is the Email list for members of the Golden Gate Computer Society's Quicken Special Interest Group.
