Claudia, Dolores and All,
I am in favor of all three resolutions. However, in the third Resolution
"Society IT support", I’m thinking: wouldn’t it be less costly for the
Fellowship to utilize web-based video conferencing (rather the flying someone
back and forth) to flesh out the issues regarding website improvements for
Societies that request that assistance?
My thanks to you and Dolores for volunteering to represent our Society at the
TDA.

Dear Fellow Travelers,
The Golden Gate Circle Society (the nickname of the San Francisco Bay Area
Urantia Society) is part of the international organization called The Urantia
Book Fellowship. Every three years representatives of the various societies
get together to problem solve ways to improve our mission and make decisions
about leadership. See this page for general information:

Next Thursday theTriennial Delegate Assembly (TDA) will convene just before
the Summer Study sessions at a conference center in the Chicago suburbs.
Dolores Nice and I will represent GGC's interests and elect new members to
the General Council.
There will be at least 3 resolutions to be considered; none (as yet)
promulgated by our society. We will be considering these however:
Resolution #1 GC Report to Membership : New York Society (USGNY)
WHEREAS; it is necessary to improve communication, engagement of members and
awareness of potential service opportunities, BE IT RESOLVED, that the
General Council email a draft of their meeting minutes to the Fellowship's
membership, no later than 4 weeks following each meeting.
Resolution #2 Jointly Sponsored UB Center : New England (UBSCNE)
Whereas in October, 2016, the Urantia Book Fellowship, and the Urantia
Association International jointly agreed in the Transition to Unity Proposal
to foster greater collaboration between both groups by "working together on
numerous projects,"
and
Whereas it would build spiritual unity and help to achieve common goals to
jointly develop a Urantia-based center(s) which could potentially serve as a
conference site, an educational center for the teachings, a leadership
training center, and perhaps a prototype community of spiritual living,
and
Whereas such a project would provide a wonderful opportunity to serve our
spiritual family,
therefore,
Be It Resolved, that the Fellowship explore with the UAI the option of
supporting such a center(s) to build spiritual unity in the movement, further
common objectives, and actively serve our spiritual family.
Resolution #3 Society IT Support : Grand Canyon Society (GCS)
WHEREAS; there appears to be a need for a number of societies to have an
in-house mentor with website designer experience who could be available from
the Fellowship to make a one day visit to the societies who request it.
and
Whereas such a POC (Point of Contact) from the Fellowship enhances the
success of societies to have updated and/or new websites.
Be it Resolved, that the Fellowship explore the feasibility of creating such
a position for on call as requested by societies who meet the requirements to
be set by the Fellowship. Airfare expense to be addressed by Fellowship.
Please feel free to reflect, comment or debate the merits with us here (and
soon) as we will be discussing these items late next week. I see merit in all
three of these resolutions and look forward to the discussion.
